Artist Inspirations:
I am inspired by the qualities of those people who make an impact in my personal life, whom I absorb into my own character. In my figurative pieces I work to communicate those various personalities. I hope to create small narratives of each person. My passion is in the Fine Arts, but I have recently been introduced to entertainment art, in particular the techniques that go into the making of hand painted animation backgrounds. Thus, i have begun to experiment & incorporate those methods into my work.
Biography:
I am a Figurative Fine Artist. My subjects are close friends, family, or romance's, & so my work exposes my private life. I enjoy playing with color, especially the differing skin tones of an interracial couple, & the contrasts created when they are placed side by side. I am excited by their potential to mix blood and culture. In my work I exercise in color; warm vs. cool, & saturated vs. neutral. Another subject that I examine is that of my Mexican decent & my far removed, romanticized perception of it. I live and work in the Los Angeles area. I received my BFA from CSUF.
